This is why we can't have nice things. Last night, Sunday, July 31, 2022, there was a huge melee in the parking lot at Darien Lake. Pitbull and Iggy Azalea were performing. It was one of the most highly anticipated shows this summer. And now, we may not get more shows like this, all because these people couldn't act right. At 8:22 pm, WNY Fire Alerts tweeted,

Will This Fight Stop Venues From Booking 'Urban' Acts?

As someone who works in entertainment, I can tell you that a lot of venues don't like to book 'urban' acts or performers that appeal to young people. There is a stereotype that these types of concerts bring out people who don't know how to behave. Welp, fights like this play right into those stereotypes. Now, venues have a legit reason not to book hip hop or (certain) pop artists. They can justify it now simply by pointing out that the people who attend these concerts bring trouble and violence.

The Southtowns Scanner posted a photo of law enforcement on the scene on Facebook,

Several law enforcement agencies were called to assist in controlling a large fight around 8pm tonight at a concert being performed at Darien Lake. Security estimated roughly between 150 and 200 subjects physically fighting in the parking lot. The reason for the fights is not currently known.

The situation has since de-escalated and some law enforcement agencies have left the scene.
Mercy Flight was placed on a standby in the area during the incident in the event of serious injury. The extent of injuries or the number of possibly injured parties remains unknown to us.

No additional information will be provided until we can obtain a press release from one of the agencies involved. Comments will be turned off to avoid the spread of rumors and potential misinformation.

Every time the concert schedules are released in the spring, there are tons of country, rock and pop shows. But rap? Not so much, because some venues are weary about booking them (for this exact reason). So, when we do get them and stupid people act stupidly, we all get punished. If you want to fight, go join MMA or a local boxing league. Stop ruining things for the rest of us.

And I'm not naive, I know that the people who were fighting have no remorse and really don't care about ruining concerts here in Western New York for the rest of us.

Here Are Some Of The Tweets And Facebook Comments About The Fight

As you can see from the responses below, this fight just feeds the stereotypes that people have about the 'dangers' of rap and some pop concerts.
