Sabres to Amerks: Cue the Peaches and Herb

Terry Pegula said he was going to restore tradition to the Buffalo Sabres franchise, which is why the potential to reunite with the Rochester Americans  makes perfect sense. Rochester was the home to the Sabres prospects for 29 years before the team came to terms with Portland in 2008. A move back to Rochester, a quick drive down the 90, would allow the Sabres scouts and management to keep a closer eye on player development and Sabres prospects wouldn't have far to go to join the big club. It's exciting for Sabres Fans too because they wouldn't have far to go to see the next Johnas Enroth or Nathan Gerbe.

Sources indicate that Pegula has issued a letter of intent to buy the Americans, who are without a pro franchise right now. Rochester Americans owner, Curt Styre's silence on the issue may be the most telling sign indicating to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle that, "all I can say is that the Rochester Americans will be playing  next season." 

Some of the Sabres best players including Thomas Vanek, Ryan Miller, Derek Roy and Jason Pominville honed their skills in Rochester and it only makes sense for the Sabres to own the club, so they can completely control the development of their future stars.
