Bills Reach 53-Man Roster With Trade and A Few Surprising Cuts

It's always a tough day for a lot of football players hoping to make the final 53-man roster of teams in the NFL.  Saturday at 4 pm was the deadline for all NFL teams to trim their rosters from 90 to the NFL regular season limit of 53.

For the Bills it meant releasing 34 players and making a trade.  That trade sent quarterback A J McCarron to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a 5th round draft pick in 2019.  It leaves the Bills with two quarterback on the roster; Nathan Peterman and Josh Allen.

One of the surprising cuts was wide receiver Corey Coleman who the Bills picked up in a trade with Cleveland last month in exchange for a 7th round draft pick.

Among the other notable players that were cut from the roster include tight ends Nick O'Leary who was a sixth round draft pick in 2015 and receiver Austin Proehl - the Bills seventh round draft pick this year.

The Bills also released receivers Kaelin Clay, Rod Streater and Brandon Reilly and linebacker Tanner Valejo.

Some of the players that were cut could be signed to the practice squad if they pass thru waivers.
