Sure...when you call out your dog's name, chances are they coming running to you or bark, but what about your cat?

New research shows that cats do know their own name when it is called out by their owners.

According to researchers, Most of the cats moved their head or ears in response to hearing their name, which showed the researchers that the cats could identify their own names among other, similar words.

"We conclude that cats can discriminate the content of human utterances based on phonemic differences," the researchers wrote. "This is the first experimental evidence showing cats' ability to understand human verbal utterances."

So next time you call your cat, just known it hears you and chooses not to respond!
