There is an upgrade coming soon that you might notice the next time you take a ride in a rideshare vehicle in portions of New York State.

Lawmakers are cracking down on insurance fraud as dash cameras will be placed in rideshare vehicles.

This comes after multiple accounts of fake accidents being reported.

As the summer cruises along, and tourists flood New York City, ride share is as busy as ever. However, so are the fraudsters who are trying to make a quick buck. In portions of New York State, ride share cars are being fitted with dash cams to capture the fraud in action. WABC radio reports that: "Dash cams are being installed in hundreds of rideshare vehicles in New York City in an effort to crack down on insurance fraud".

Here is one example of the type of accidents that are being staged.

I had a similar incident happen in Buffalo, New York a few years ago as a person walking faked a fall in front of the car I was driving. Thankfully there was an attendant on duty at the parking lot and witnessed the entire thing. It was something that the person had been trying to pull off a few times that day.
