An emu is missing in Western New York and people keep spotting it in the woods. This is a true story.

There is an emu that has been caught on trail cams in the woods in Allegany County and residents are concerned. Of course, it would probably scare you if you saw an emu in your backyard walking by and not a deer, but what damage could it do?

Emus can actually be aggressive. They are very strong animals and have powerful legs and cause some serious injury. If you see the emu make sure you avoid it. Emus are also huge birds. They can get up to 6 feet tall and weight almost 130 pounds. The Southtowns Scanner page wrote:

If anyone is missing an emu, it has been picked up on cameras on multiple days romping around in the woods in Caneadea, in Allegany County.

Who would have thought there would be other missing emu stories in Western New York?

Karen had a great story on Facebook this morning about another emu that got lost by her house.

I had an emu on my property near Springville a couple years ago. Scared the crap outta me hahaha. It escaped from a local farm. Returned to owners and then I went on Amazon and bought an EMU CROSSING sign and hung it on a tree hahahahaha

Josifs Restaurant in North Collins is now serving kangaroo burgers (for real). I bet they like to capture that emu. They also are serving bison & rabbit meat.

If you see the emu just report it and do not go by it.
