There is a push to save drivers money when they use the New York State Thruway and it is getting some attention this week.

The cold and snow has returned to New York State this week and some places are digging out as much as three feet or more of snow! Drivers across New York State are using their winter driving skills!

But the next time you drive on the New York State Thruway, imagine that you are driving without having to pay a toll!

In a report this week, it was noted that New York State Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara is pitching a plan called the Toll-Free Overnight Hours Program.

The tolls in New York State have always been an issue. Recently, the controversial "congestion pricing" has become a hot topic. Most who drive in to the Manhattan area are facing a $9 fee!

When many people think about New York State, they assume that it is just like New York City-loud and congested.

However, if you have ever traveled on the New York State Thruway you know that it is anything but that. In fact, the trip from Buffalo to Albany along the New York State Thruway is one of the most picturesque in the country! The rolling hills and farms and beautiful forests along the Thruway make for a beautiful ride, specifically in the fall!

While we wait to see if there will be any movement on FREE overnight tolls, the New York State Thurway reminds drivers to be prepared for the weather!
