This is so exciting on so many levels for parents and for kids. The fact that Halloween is on a Friday gives kids a chance to enjoy trick-or-treating later in the evening, and parents won't have to worry about kids having a candy and sugar hangover for school the next morning. For those who love a good Halloween party, the weekends tend to start on Thursdays in New York, and we can celebrate Halloween for a few days in a row! But now is the time to plan for that costume or those costumes that you will wear or that the kids want to wear.

In a recent report from Today on NBC, it was noted that there are some costumes that may not be appropriate or haven't been as popular as intended. But are any of them banned? In the report from NBC, it was noted that:

"For instance, the "World War II Evacuee Girl" costume for kids, while not marketed as a Halloween get-up on one website, is identical to one that was pulled from an online retailer in 2017 because it resembled Holocaust victim Anne Frank".

When it comes to kids and costumes, it really comes down to common sense and decency. Little kids are generally too young to understand politics or the meaning behind certain online trends. Kids just want to dress up and get candy. But when it comes to government involvement, there are only a few times when it has stepped in.

The Halloween Costume That Could Be Banned

It was four years ago that some school districts said no to various costumes, such as Squid Games characters. The BBC reported that, "Three primary schools in New York state have banned Halloween costumes from the hit Netflix series Squid Game, over fears they could glorify violence".

Our kids are planning to be some classics this year, including a Minnie Mouse witch, Captain America, and Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. If you are looking for trendy costumes, anything K-pop is a hit!
