Is Josh Allen The NFL’s Most Overrated Quarterback?
A survey just came out that asked NFL players their opinion about other players in the league. The results weren't great for Josh Allen.
Every day sports fans are bombarded by the thoughts and feelings of NFL analysts. They will go on for hours on their opinions about the players and coaches. It's their job. You can't blame them for giving their opinion when we're the ones who sit there and listen to them. Some of them have merit to what they're saying because they've played the game, but many of them are on the outside looking in. They've never played a down, made a catch, or made a tackle. They're fans with opinions.
But when you really want to know what's going on in the league, you ask the people who are in the league. You ask the players in the trenches. That's where the interesting stuff comes out.
ESPN did just that. They asked 103 players their thoughts on quarterbacks in the NFL. They were asked who they thought were the:
- The top three current quarterbacks
- Rookie QB who will have the most successful career
- Most overrated quarterback
- Most underrated quarterback
- Biggest trash-talking QB
It wasn't good for Josh Allen. The category that you wouldn't want to be voted into by your peers would be "Most Overrated Quarterback" and that's exactly what they claimed Allen was.
"The three top vote-getters in this category have made five Pro Bowls, one Super Bowl and two conference championship games." -
It was the turnovers that did him in ultimately. He's had a ton of them over the last couple of years (102 since 2018, to be exact).
Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia) and Tua Tagovailoa (Miami) were tied for the second most overrated quarterbacks in the NFL.
Allen was also voted the "Biggest Trash-Talking QB" by the other players which is no surprise.
