If you have an account with Ticketmaster, you may have received a concerning email this week confirming that your personal information may be compromised.

The email is verified to be from Ticketmaster, but that doesn’t really make anyone feel better, considering that the hack is real and your information could have been accessed by a third party.

Ticketmaster described in their recent email what happened on their end:

“Ticketmaster recently discovered that an unauthorized third party obtained information from a cloud database hosted by a third-party data services provider. Based on our investigation, we determined that the unauthorized activity occurred between April 2, 2024, and May 18, 2024. On May 23, 2024, we determined that some of your personal information may have been affected by the incident. We have not seen any additional unauthorized activity in the cloud database since we began our investigation.”

The email was not issued out to Ticketmaster account holders until late June, which makes many people wonder why it took so long for the email to be sent.

The breach is said to have affected over 1,000 customers, but it could be more. The personal information that may have been obtained by the third party could have included: your name, basic contact information, and payment card information such as encrypted credit or debit card numbers and expiration dates.

Obviously the payment card information is one of the bigger concerns, so here’s what you could do:

  • Go into Ticketmaster and remove your payment method
  • Contact your bank to let them know your information may have been involved in the hack, and ask them for next steps.
  • Check your recent bank charges to make sure everything is still in order.

There are several ticket holders that could have been affected by this breach, but the following Buffalo concert ticket holders may need to double check their bank statement:

  • Buffalo Bison games
  • Savannah Bananas
  • Counting Crows
  • Uncle Lucius
  • Brett Young
  • Beartooth
  • Buffalo Riverworks
  • Nicki Minaj
  • Buffalo Bills games

If you have tickets to any of these events, it may be worth checking your Ticketmaster account.
