There is no question that production from Von Miller last year was disappointing.  But no one was more disappointed than Von.

Miller was incredibly forthcoming today during his press conference after practice at Training Camp in Rochester.  Last season was disappointing from a production standpoint.  He didn't register a single sack and only tallied up 3 tackles.  That's not at all what you expect from Von Miller.  As he said, "I'm Von Miller.  I'm measured by sacks."

While speaking with reporters at St. John Fisher College, he admitted that he "probably should not have played last year."  However, in the same breath, he said that no one was going to keep him off the field either.  It's just the mindset that he has.  He's a very optimistic person and always sees things in a better light than most.  He knew that he wasn't 100% but thought that he could still make something out of it.

There are two sides to that coin.  On one side, it's great that you've got someone on your team who has a "can-do" type of attitude and is always willing to do whatever it takes.  On the other side, you need that person to also realize when they can't-do to allow someone an opportunity who can.  You can only put 11 people on the field on defense.  You need the 11 best players out there.

The great news is that he hasn't lost that can-do attitude and he's looking forward to being able to get back out there to start racking up sacks again.  He's fired up for this year to make his comeback.  On top of that, he says he's feeling better than he has in years.  Multiple times he mentioned how excited he was to not have to be taking time to rehab his knee and that his days are filled with meetings and practice now instead.

Currently, with 123.5 sacks, Von Miller is 19th on the list of sack leaders and hopes to add to that this year.  He's only 76.5 away from the lead (held by former Buffalo Bill Bruce Smith at 200).  That means he would have to average 4.5 sacks per game to get it done in the regular season.
