If you live in the northtowns, you may think that the lake effect snowstorm chaos is over as of Monday. That is unfortunately not the case for many people from South Buffalo to Evans and in Orchard Park, Hamburg and West Seneca.

Cleanup efforts still taking place late Monday and will likely continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, as we get closer to Thanksgiving on Thursday.

One problem we have faced, other than road conditions, is the threat of roof collapses and building collapses due to the sheer weight of the heavy lake effect snow.

We know about Braymiller's bowling alley in Hamburg, which suffered a complete loss this weekend. A few other buildings have collapsed due to the show.

On Monday evening, a popular gas station's awning collapsed in West Seneca.

The West Seneca Police Department posted on social media that the Sonoco on Union and Clinton in West Seneca collapsed on Monday due to the snow weight.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported and no vehicles damaged as well.

This gas station is just down the road from my brother and aunt and is a gas station I have visited many times over the years. I think it's nothing short of a miracle that nobody was under this awning when it collapsed.

This is another piece of evidence that this lake effect snowstorm aftermath is nowhere close to being done. Neighborhoods are still under snow and many have only one small path to get down. There was so much snow that fell in South Buffalo, Hamburg, Orchard Park, Evans, West Seneca, Lackawanna and East Aurora that there was nowhere for crews to put it.

Plows had to wait as haulers had to carry snow away from streets and parking lots, and more cleanup will take place on Tuesday.
