Byrne Dairy, Inc., located in Syracuse, has issued a voluntary recall for its Byrne Dairy Mighty Fine Chocolate Ice Cream. The ice cream, which is sold in half-gallon cartons has an undeclared allergen. The product may contain undeclared peanuts. People with peanut allergies run the risk of a potentially fatal reaction if they consume the ice cream.

The last date of sale listed on the ice cream is October 4, 2024. The product was produced in New York and distributed to retail stores in Upstate New York. The half-gallon cardboard containers are labeled as ‘Byrne Dairy Might Fine Chocolate Ice Cream’. The ‘Last Date of Sale: 10/4/2024’ is printed on the side of the container. Approximately 250 half-gallon units are being recalled.

Thankfully, there have been no reports of illnesses reported as of yet. A consumer complained about the product containing peanut butter, which initiated the recall.

Consumers who have purchased the affected products are urged not to consume the product and dispose of it or return it to their place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company by calling Ashley Casey at (315) 627-1319 for 9:00 am – 5:00 pm EST or by email at info@byrne1933.com.

I swear, it seems like the people in charge of food safety in America are asleep at the wheel. It seems like every day there is a new recall that could be potentially deadly.
