New Mixed Use Development Coming To Hertel Ave In North Buffalo
Buffalo's North Park / Parkside neighborhood has been a hotbed of activity lately in Western New York. As Western New York is giving more examples of why Buffalo is the hottest housing market in America, we're seeing even more development on the horizon.
The lot that Deep South Taco sits on at the corner of Hertel Ave and Colvin is for sale for $1.45 million, and plans are in the works to turn that plot of land into a mixed-use multi-family housing development with underground parking and commercial business space on the ground level.
The proposed development, located at 1707 Hertel Ave., Buffalo, 14216, would contain a total of 58,000 square feet of space with 52 one- and two-bedroom apartments, 57 parking spaces, and several commercial and retail spaces. The building would have a green roof and other outdoor spaces that would help it blend into the neighborhood.
On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, the developers held a community meeting in the North Park neighborhood, where the project was officially introduced to neighbors. Jacob Stiller, an associate real estate broker who is taking on this project, was on hand at the community meeting to answer questions from media and residents about why he decided to develop this project on Hertel Ave.
This project is still beginning and has not yet been submitted to local city officials for review and approval. Stiller, the developer and principal owner of Forward Development, said that if all goes according to plan, the development will be completed and ready for occupancy in 2026.
