National Weather Service Issues Hazardous Outlook Warning For Buffalo-Area

On Thursday, November 24, 2022, at 5:26 am, the National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather 0utlook for portions of WNY. The potential for flooding due to snowmelt affects the counties of Northern Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie. The warning is in effect for tomorrow, Friday, November 25, through Wednesday, November 30.

Above normal temperatures through the weekend will bring a gradual increase in runoff due to snowmelt in areas which received heavy lake effect snow last weekend. Periods of Sunday and Sunday night will increase runoff, potentially causing minor flooding of small streams and creeks, as well as urban areas with poor drainage in areas which got the most snowfall. The greatest risk for minor flooding will be on Buffalo area creeks Sunday through Sunday night.
