If you don't need to drive this evening in Western New York, you shouldn't. Much of Western New York will see more than a half a foot of snow today, Friday, March 10, and tomorrow, Saturday, March 11, 2023. The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of the counties in the area.

Residents of most areas of WNY should expect snowfall, with total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches, which is going to make the afternoon and evening commute potentially hazardous.

Early this morning, the NWS issued an advisory for Wyoming, Cattaraugus, Allegany, and Southern Erie Counties, including the cities of Warsaw, Olean, Wellsville, and Orchard Park. The advisory takes effect at 9 am this morning and runs through tomorrow at 7 am.

Plan on snow covered and slippery road conditions with poor visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday evening commute. Periods of snow will result in snow covered roads and limited visibilities.

A Winter Weather Advisory was also issued for Niagara, Orleans, Northern Erie, and Genesee Counties, including the cities of Niagara Falls, Medina, Buffalo, and Batavia. The advisory is in effect for the counties listed above from 11 am this morning until 7 am tomorrow.

Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. Plan on snow covered and slippery road conditions with poor visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday evening commute with road conditions quickly deteriorating around sunset.

The snowstorm is also expected to affect the Finger Lakes region - Monroe, Wayne, Livingston, and Ontario Counties, including the cities of Rochester, Newark, Geneseo, and Canandaigua. The storm is expected to move into the area around 1 pm today and go through 9 am tomorrow.

Plan on snow covered and slippery road conditions with poor visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday evening commute with road conditions quickly deteriorating around sunset.
