It goes without saying that the National Football League has some of the best athletes in the entire world as members. More than 1,700 men compete week in and week out in an effort to be the best of the best, with the common goal of heading to the Super Bowl and winning to take home the Lombardi Trophy. Football is one of the ultimate team sports that takes an entire organization working together to put quality product on the field.

But, just because it's a team sport, it doesn't mean that there are not some great individuals who put out tremendous effort that deserves to be recognized. That is precisely why the NFL hosts an annual award ceremony, the NFL Honors, during the week leading up to the Super Bowl.

This year's event, which is hosted by Snoop Dogg inside the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, seeks to honor NFL Fans, Players (past and present), and Coaches who all made a major contribution to the league.

Chief among these awards are the AP NFL Most Valuable Player Award, which has been given annually since 1957 and is awarded to the player who has been judged to have had the greatest impact on the season that year.

The completion during the 2024/25 season was tough, with five players making it to the final round after voting:

Josh Allen from the Buffalo Bills, Saquon Barkley from the Philadelphia Eagles, Joe Burrow from the Cincinnati Bengals, Jared Goff from the Detroit Lions, and Lamar Jackson from the Baltimore Ravens.

Most pundits held that Jackson, the winner of the MVP Award last year, and Josh Allen were the front runners, but in the end, we're happy to see that Buffalo came out on top and the award went to Buffalo's QB1, Josh Allen.

Football fans all over the nation are happy for Allen, but none more than those right here in Western New York.

The MVP award wasn't the only win that came Buffalo's way during the NFL Honors ceremony:

  • Joe Brady - WON NFL Assistant Coach of the Year
  • Josh Allen - WON NFL FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Year
  • Josh Allen - WON NFL Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award
