The BIlls Squish The Fish, Beating Miami 30-27 in Buffalo

Coming off of three straight victories, the hometown Buffalo Bills returned to Orchard Park, New York, to host their AFC East divisional rival, Miami Dolphins. With a strong command over the AFC East, the Bills looked to extend their lead in the East while Miami sought to turn things around with the return of their franchise quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, from injury.

Going into the 1 pm game at Highmark Stadium, the Bills were 6-point favorites over the Dolphins with a dominant history over the fins in Buffalo, winning the last eight home games against Miami, going back to 2017.

Miami Verses Buffalo Game Recap

The game started slowly in the first half, with Buffalo receiving the opening kickoff.

In the first quarter, both teams had difficulty moving the ball, and the results on the scoreboard showed that. Both teams could only muster a field goal each, and the first quarter ended tied at 3.

Miami was the first team to score a touchdown, with De'Von Achane snagging a 14-yard pass from Tua, giving Miami a 10-3 lead in the second quarter. Buffalo answered with a 49-yard Tyler Bass field goal, his second of the game, bringing the score to 10-6 as the teams headed to the mid-game game halftime break.

While Miami started the second half of football, getting the kickoff, it was the Bills who put up the next points. Mack Hollins grabbed a 1-yard pass from Josh Allen to score a touchdown. Unfortunately, Bass missed the extra point, which meant the Bills only walked away with 6 points in this drive.

The Bills defense held Miami to a 23-yard Jason Sanders field goal, giving Miami just a 1-point lead, 13-12. That lead didn't last long for Miami, as Buffalo's Ray Davis caught a short pass from Josh Allen and scampered 63 yards to score a touchdown. On the extra point attempt, Buffalo went for two, and Keon Coleman caught a pass from Allen to give BUffalo a 20-13 lead at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, these two division rivals turned into a shootout as both teams started going back and forth with strong drives and scores.

It started with Miami as they drove down the field, caping the drive with an 8-yard touchdown run from De'Von Achane, tying the game at 20. Buffalo came back with an impressive scoring drive, finished off by an amazing 2-yard touchdown pass from Allen to Quintin Morris, giving the Bills a 7-point lead, 27-20.

Not to be denied, the Dolphins came back with less than two minutes left in the game and scored on a 7-yard pass from Tua to Jaylen Waddle, tying the game at 27 each.

With less than two minutes left in the game, the Bills drove the ball down the field to give Tyler Bass a chance to win the game for the Bills, which he did when he hit a 61-yard field goal with just 5 seconds remaining on the clock. At the end of the game, Miami tried a trick play, but it failed, giving the Bills the 30-27 win.

Now, the Bills look forward to NFL Week 10, when they will go back on the road and travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Lucas Oil Stadium.
