WNY Arrests Highlight Strict Immigration Enforcement

Last month, 21 people in Niagara County were arrested and placed on immigration holds. The current administration has hyper-focused on illegal immigrants, forming a private army of ICE agents to go after those with criminal histories and those who have lived peacefully in the United States for years.

In November, Buffalo Fugitive Operations officers arrested an international fugitive. Anhelina Polishchuk was arrested during a targeted operation on November 20, 2025. The Ukrainian national is wanted for drug trafficking in Ukraine.

On December 15, an Amherst woman said ICE officers arrested two people who were working on her home, according to WKBW.

According to data from the Deportation Project, immigration arrests in Erie County increased from 59 to 620 arrests between 2024 and October 2025.
