As Americans continue to deal with the effects of changes in Washington, D.C., many of which federal officials say are in an effort to make government more efficient, everyday Americans are starting to feel the impact of these changes.

Not only have we seen all sorts of inflationary trends due to uncertainty in the financial markets due to wild swings in tariffs and duty fees charged against imported goods, but state and local governments are also needing to raise more funds to cover large budget shortfalls.

Now, thanks to more federal cuts, which are being implemented at the impetus of the Department of Government Equity, millions of people around the country will likely go hungry.

New York Could Go Hungry

We're learning more about the massive cuts made by the United States Department of Agriculture over the last few weeks, which have slashed $1 billion in federal spending on food. The initial cuts made by USDA canceled more than $600 million in funding for schools to buy food. The Local Food for Schools program was running in around 40 states.

Now, another roughly $500 million is being cut from food banks and other community-based programs that help low-income people meet their food needs.

All over the Empire State, food banks and other community programs are dealing with the aftermath of losing out on potentially hundreds of millions of pounds in food. In Western New York, the local food bank FeedMore WNY will lose out on more than two million pounds of food.

According to WIVB-TV, these cuts represent more than 10% of the food they distribute in a year, and they're likely to cause thousands of Buffalonians to go hungry.

Only time will tell how bad things will get as more money is cut from the federal budget.
