Another day, another recall here in New York. This time the recall is from car manufacturer Honda.

Honda issued a recall for more than 330,000 vehicles due to an issue with the heating pads behind both side-view mirrors. The pads may not be bonded properly, which could lead to the mirror glass falling out of the case and could cause an accident.

The vehicles that are affected by the recall include the 2020-2022 Odyssey, 2020-2022 Passport, 2020-2021 Pilot, and 2020-2021 Ridgeline. Honda is expected to send out recall letters to owners by May 8th.

If you have a vehicle impacted by the recall, you can contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that due to possible failure of the mirrors, the affected vehicles don't comply with the necessary rear visibility requirements. Your vehicle could fail the New York State inspection if you don't have the mirrors fixed.

Honda announced that dealers across the state will replace the side-view mirrors on impacted vehicles free of charge.

This is the second major vehicle recall in a week. On March 23rd, Hyundai and Kia recalled over 571,000 SUVs and minivans because the tow hitch harnesses could catch fire while they are parked or being driven.

The vehicles affected by that recall include the Hyundai 2019 to 2023 Santa Fe, the 2021 to 2023 Santa Fe Hybrid, the 2022 and 2023 Santa Fe Plug-in hybrid, and the 2022 and 2023 Santa Cruz. The Kia vehicle affected by the recall was the Carnival minivan from 2022 and 2023.
