Jack Eichel is gone, traded to the Las Vegas Golden Knights (Read All The Details Here) and as part of the trade, Alex Tuch who grew up in Syracuse is coming home to New York.

Tuch played in college at Boston College where he was named the 2014–15 Hockey East Association Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team.

After college, he went on to be the #18 overall pick in the 2014 NHL draft by the Minnesota Wild. Tuch made his NHL debut on February 4, 2017, against the Vancouver Canucks. He would end up playing in six NHL games that season but did not score a goal that year.

In 2017, he was traded to the Las Vegas Golden Knights before the NHL expansion draft. He would score his first NHL goal that season against the Boston Bruins.

Tuch was part of the Las Vegas team that went to the 2018 Stanley Cup Finals, where they eventually lost in five games to the Washington Capitals. In 2018, Tuch signed a seven-year, $33 million contract extension with Vegas. That means he still has 4 years left on his contract when he comes to Buffalo.

He is currently recovering from a shoulder injury that required surgery and is expected to return to the ice after the NHL All-Star break.

Also part of the deal, along with Tuch the Buffalo Sabres also acquired Peyton Krebs, a 2022 first-round draft pick, and a 2023 third-round draft pick.
