Latest COVID-19 Update For Schools In Western New York

UPDATE

There will be no mask mandate, social distancing guidelines, or requirement for anyone to be tested or vaccinated

Parents across New York State are counting down the days until the start of the new school year. Whether you are feeling the nerves of sending your kid for the first day ever. Or perhaps the emotion of the senior year that is about to begin, it can be as frustrating as it is exciting getting ready for back to school. But since March of 2020, we have all had to deal with an additional stress; the unknown of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Old - "New Normal"

From at home learning to social distancing and masks in schools, there have been so many changes to the way kids and school staff interact. But it looks like things will be more like the pre-pandemic when the school year starts this September.

Moving Forward

In a letter to parents in the Hamburg School District, Superintendent, Michael Cornell explained the updated policy per New York State.

Thankfully, this guidance paves the way for our students to have a school experience that is much more comparable to that which they experienced prior to COVID-19. There will be no mask mandate, social distancing guidelines, or requirement for anyone to be tested or vaccinated.

It is important to remember that this is guidance from New York State and your particular district may have some additional regulations or restrictions to watch for.

Welcome Back

We have a son going in to first grade and another entering pre-k! They are as excited as we are to get back to a regular routine and see their friends and teachers! It will be nice not to have the stress of strict COVID-19 restrictions and we can just focus on them learning.
