New York State Assembly Bill Would Pay College Athletes

It's been a long talked about subject in sports. Should college athletes be paid? One New York State Assembly bill would do just that.

According to WIVB, it's called the New York Collegiate Athletic Participation Compensation Act, and would allow student-athletes to receive compensation, including the use of a student’s name, image, or likeness.

Not only that, but the new bill would also require colleges to set up an injured athletes fund, for compensation in case of career-ending or long-term injuries, plus the bill would give student-athletes the right to seek professional representation.

One big aspect of the proposed bill would require colleges to take 15 percent of revenue earned from ticket sales and divide it among the student-athletes

There's been no timetable for the law being passed, however.
