The New York State thruway is expected to go to cashless tolls by the end of next year and now there's a chance that toll cost could go up by 2022.

According to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Moody's Investors Service is suggesting that tolls will have to go up by 2022.

The agency says the lack of a plan for toll increases on the NYS thruway could "endanger the road's bond rating and borrowing costs," according to WGRZ.

A moratoriumon toll increases will expire by the end of next year and The Thruway Authority might need $53 million to cover its cost by 2022.
