The summer has officially arrived in Buffalo and Western New York and with warm weather and humidity comes the strong storms.

We are not out of the threat of storms yet in Buffalo. According to the National Weather Service Office in Buffalo, there will be another round of storms moving in from the west that will bring heavy rain and wind over much of the area.

Early on Monday, there was plenty of heavy rain and lightning but it was a preview to what we will get later Monday. In Fact, the further east you get on Monday afternoon, there is a SLIGHT risk of tornadoes and "super cells" around the region. The wind will be nasty as well with gusts around 50mph expected.

Be prepared for downed power lines and trees. We witnessed a tree fall on Saturday evening on our way home from dinner. The wind whipped up and snapped it over in a matter of seconds!

Things will calm down for mid week with rain expected to start the weekend. Stay tuned to WYRK and our WYRK Buffalo App for more information and updates.
