Christmas movies favorites can be very subjective but there is no doubt that there are classics and standouts.

The holiday season is synonymous with timeless, classic films like 'It’s A Wonderful Life,' 'Miracle on 34th Street' and 'Holiday Inn.' Even more recent favorites like “A Christmas Story,' 'Love, Actually' and 'Elf' instantly put us in the mood to cozy up to the fire and sip a cup of Yuletide cheer.

But you know what really gets our chestnuts roasting? The outrageous drama, soap-operatic plot twists and ridiculous-sounding titles brought to us courtesy of the made-for-TV elves at Hallmark Channel, Lifetime and ABC Family.

It’s been a while, but the affable star of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ is reviving the Muppet mania that has been hibernating deep inside most of us over-25-year-olds. This week, Jason Segel’s new movie ‘The Muppets’ opens nationwide, and, because of his own Muppet mania, he seems to be the most star struck of them all.

This might make you feel old. 20 years ago, Home Alone was the biggest Holiday movie in the country, smashing box office records and becoming the third highest grossing film of the 90’s.
