An Amber Alert has been issued for a Rochester boy by the New York State Special Victims Unit and the Rochester Police Department, after police received word that the boy was abducted by masked men.

The Amber Alert went into effect Monday night at 10:23 pm.

The boy, James S. Fernandez Reyes, was abducted near Myrtle Street around 4:30 pm, according to the Rochester Police Department. 

Reyes is around 14 years old, and the police department made a statement, saying, “The child was taken under circumstances that lead police to believe that they are in imminent danger of serious harm or death.”

Description of Fernandez Reyes

Fernandez Reyes is Hispanic, and he stands at about 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs approximately 120 pounds. The boy has brown hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue pants, and white Nike Air Force One sneakers.

Police Have A Suspect(s) In Mind

The suspect is described by police to be a Black man, and authorities say the boy was taken by 4-5 Black men wearing masks.

Fernandez Reyes is believed to be traveling with the abductors in a mid-sized gold SUV. The vehicle was last spotted traveling north on Myrtle Street. The SUV is registered with white New York license plates.

If you have information in regards to the disappearance of Fernandez Reyes, police request that you give specific details as much as possible, such as location of the last sighting, the time it occurred, descriptions of the child and any other accompanying children, what the abductors look like, the automobile license plate numbers, or any other further details that you can provide.
