Amherst Is Looking For Western New York’s Next Teen Idol
Amherst Teen Idol is searching for their next biggest stars.
For the first time in five years, the Amherst Youth & Recreation Department will be holding their annual Amherst Teen Idol competition once again, where they highlight the local talent in Western New York.
The contest originally started in the early 2000s, and this year’s competition will feature some previous Amherst Teen Idol winners, including Liz Osborn, from Osborn & Nash, who is stopping by to make an appearance, just a month away from her big performance at the WYRK Toyota Taste of Country.
Cami Clune, who is an Amherst native, won the 2015 Amherst Teen Idol competition before competing on season 19 of “The Voice“ and reached the semifinals. You can see one of her performances here.
Auditions for Amherst Teen Idol are open to all amateur soloists between the ages of 12 to 20. The preliminary auditions will be held on Thursday, May 19 starting at 6pm. The event takes place at the Eastern Hills Mall, and it will be 90 minutes full of youthful talent. There will be a panel of judges that will decide which of the finalists will move forward to the championship round on June 11.
The competition will take place in the Boulevard Mall in the center concourse near the Niagara Emporium.
The first-place winner will receive a trophy, along with $200 gift card as a prize, while the runner-up will receive a second place trophy and a $150 gift card.
