Hilarious Old Tweets That Said Josh Allen Would Be Awful [WATCH]
The Buffalo Bills are about to play in the AFC Divisional Round against the Kansas City Chiefs. The game will be in Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City this Sunday at 6:30 pm, in what is a rematch of last year's AFC Championship game.
The Bills have made the playoffs the past three seasons and have now won back-to-back AFC East division titles, along with winning at least one playoff game in back-to-back years.
The number one reason why the Bills are so good is because of the man playing quarterback in Buffalo, Josh Allen.
Allen threw for over 4,000 yards for the second straight season and had over 40 total touchdowns in back-to-back seasons. Allen has rushed for over 1,200 yards the last two seasons, and was a runner-up in last year's NFL MVP race.
Last Saturday, Allen orchestrated the first perfect game on offense in NFL history. The Bills scored a touchdown on all seven drives, faced no 4th down, did not punt, did not turn the ball over, and did not attempt a field goal.
It's a long ways away from when so many "experts" and fans said that Allen would be a guaranteed bust -- usually pointing only at his college completion percentage while playing at the University of Wyoming. Never mind the fact that completion percentage has many variables that go into it (talent surrounding you, scheme, mechanics, etc.).
Allen's completion percentage was 69 percent in 2020 and 63 percent in 2021. He's been well coached by quarterback guru Jordan Palmer, Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and quarterbacks coach, Ken Dorsey.
I was a huge fan of Allen's coming out of college, but it was amazing how little support I had. Many fans had bought into the narrative Allen would be a guaranteed bust, and likely never watched a single Wyoming Cowboys game.
Still, it's very fun looking back at some old tweets. Many of them from 2018-2019, but there are some dating back to just last year.
These tweets and Allen takes want a mulligan.
My favorite is the first one, when ESPN's Todd McShay was very condescending towards fellow draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. about his Allen take. McShay though Sam Darnold was clearly better. Whoops.
Oof.
Josh Allen has proved the doubters wrong, and did way more than that.
