Folks all over Buffalo and Western New York have been in a pretty good mood over the last couple of days since the hometown Bills manhandled the Pittsburgh Steelers in an NFL Week Thirteen matchup between the two rustbelt cities.

Both the offense and defense for the Bills got to work in order to shut down Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers in the second half of the game. There were several performances of note, like Josh Allen breaking the rushing touchdown record for quarterbacks and James Cook going well over 100 yards on the ground.

But there was one performance on defense that was especially helpful to help the Bills win, and that performance has earned him league-wide honors this week.

Buffalo Bills Christian Benford Named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Coming off a week thirteen game that saw him make two tackles, snag an interception, and return a fumble 17 yards for a key touchdown, Christian Benford has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Benford, along with Seahawks Line Backer Ernest Jones, who won the NFC DPOW award, made several key plays to help his team earn a big W.

Since being drafted by the Bills in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft from Villanova, the Baltimore native Benford has grown into one of the best cornerbacks in the league. Not only is he well respected in the league, but he has also quickly become a fan favorite in Western New York. It's not strange to see Bills Mafia rocking jerseys and t-shirts with no.47 stitched on them.

Not only is Benford a top-notch defensive back, but he's also a children's author who's passionate about improving the lives of people in his hometown of Baltimore and his new adopted home of Buffalo.

Congrats, CB, you deserve it.
