Restaurants With The Best Reubens In Western New York
St. Patrick's Day is over, so what do we do with this extra corned beef? The right answer is to make Reubens and we've got some great places that will do that.
What is on a Reuben sandwich?
For those who have never had a Reuben, it's the perfect sandwich after St. Patrick's Day. If you've got extra corned beef, it's the perfect way to use it. Start with two slices of marbled rye bread. Then add your corned beef. You can either slice it very thin and pile it high or slice it thick. Then you add a little sauerkraut and some Swiss cheese. Finally, give it a little bit of Thousand Island dressing and you're all set. If you want to take it that extra step, you can grill it for a couple of minutes to really let those flavors meld together.
For me, the important part is the ratio of sauerkraut to corned beef. You want to give the sandwich just enough that you get the flavor but don't overpower the rest of the sandwich with it.
Where can you get a Reuben in Western New York?
The best part about Reubens is that they're available all year round in most places. You don't have to wait until St. Patrick's Day. However, they are normally featured as specials around this time of year because people load up on the corned beef. We put together a list of places that offer incredible Reubens in Western New York, but if you've got a place that we missed, be sure to let us know so we can add them to our list next year!
