The Buffalo Bills have been hitting one another at training camp for the last two weeks, but they will finally have the chance to go against another team when the Bills travel to Ford Field to play the Detroit Lions at 7 pm this Friday night.

It will be the Bills' first preseason game since 2019 and we should be getting our first look at some new players, including rookies such as edge rushers Gregory Rousseau and Boogie Basham Jr.

However, one player that will not be playing against the Lions is starting quarterback Josh Allen, who head coach Sean McDermott said will not be suiting up for the team's first preseason game.

Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins will also not be playing against the Lions, since he's still recovering from being on the COVID-19 list and it makes all the sense in the world to not have your franchise quarterback, who just got paid $258 million and is on a Super Bowl contending team, play in a preseason game when your starting left tackle is also not playing. Smart move by McDermott.

We should get long looks at new Bills backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky and second-year pro, Jake Fromm.

Fromm didn't get a chance to play in the preseason last year and was never activated for a game in 2020 due to COVID-19 precautions, so it should be welcomed for the former Georgia University QB.

I'm also excited to see guys such as Jake Kumerow, Tanner Gentry and Isaiah Hodgins get looks at wide receiver.
