To celebrate the 50th birthday of the Egg McMuffin, McDonald's announced that on Thursday they will be dropping the price of the breakfast sandwich to its original 1971 price of 63 cents.

Yep..at participating McDonald's all across New York, you will be able to order one of the most popular breakfast items on the menu for only 63 cents.

The Egg McMuffin was created by a McDonald's franchise owner in 1971 and was the first quick-order breakfast sandwich on the McDonald's menu. Herb Peterson who invented the sandwich called it Eggs Benedict on the go.

Since it was first introduced to the world in 1971, fans of the sandwich have come up with their own "Hacks" to create new versions of the original Egg McMuffin.

Many of these hacks have been exposed on Tik Tok and on Thursday as part of the promotion McDonald's will allow customers to "hack" the Egg McMuffin and create their own sandwich. For example, customers can make a "Sweet Chicken Sammie," by ordering a McChicken Biscuit and syrup to top their Egg McMuffin. Another idea is to ditch the muffins and replace them with two hash browns.

The 63 cent Egg McMuffin will be available on Thursday during normal morning hours which is 6 am until 10:30 am. The Egg McMuffin is made up of egg, American Cheese, Canadain Bacon, butter, and salt, all on an English muffin.
