Another Trade Coming for the Buffalo Bills?
After the Bills traded offensive lineman Cody Ford to the Arizona Cardinals, could this player be the next person on their way out?
The Buffalo Bills are loaded with talent at every position this season. Even at backup quarterback behind Josh Allen with Veterans Case Keenum and Matt Barkley who, if needed, can win games in a pinch. Virtually every position on the Bills' roster has incredible depth, which is one of the many reasons they are Super Bowl favorites.
Offseason Signings
The Bills added a number of Free Agents in the offseason, highlighted by all-pro pass rusher Von Miller. They also seem to have gotten excellent players in DT Tim Settle and OL Rodger Saffold III who look to be starters. Other signings also figure to be major contributors, such as DE Shaq Lawson, DT Jordan Phillips, and G Ike Boettger who all returned to the team after leaving for a brief stint.
New Bills On The Bubble
While several new additions to the team are firmly on the roster, others have question marks. WR Jamison Crowder probably makes the team, but they are so deep at receiver you could see them cutting him. RB Duke Johnson appears to be one of the odd men out in a stacked backfield. WR Tavon Austin has already been cut. Then there are the Tight Ends.
Tight Ends
Dawson Knox is the Bills' starter at Tight End. That's a lock. The Bills signed former 1st round pick O.J. Howard in the offseason, and many presumed him to be the 2nd TE. Also on the roster are Tommy Sweeny and Quintin Morris. Sweeney has been with the team for a while and M orris joined just last year.
A Trade Coming?
This morning on Twitter, O.J. Howard has been trending, and as reported below, he may be on the way out.
As Air Raid points out, It could be the play of Quintin Morris that leads to the BIlls trading Howard, who hasn't played poorly this pre-season but has plenty of trade value. Good TEs are hard to find in the NFL so there would presumably be plenty of buyers for Howard, all looking to nab him before he is cut and can choose the team he wants to go to if he were.
Will the BIlls Trade O.J. Howard?
The team has proven they like to stick to their own homegrown talent. That being said, they also want the best players on the team and they need more than just 2 tight ends. It's certainly possible and General Manager Brandon Beane is one of the most aggressive GMs in the league and certainly makes more trades than most. Still, you have to wonder if the Bills would want to thin themselves at the position, especially when they seem to want to be able to run the ball more this year and run more play action, which Josh Allen is incredible at and 2 TE sets can help make possible.
