I have memories of going down to the Marine Midland Arena (now KeyBank Center) to watch Buffalo Sabres games as a little kid.

There was almost nothing to speak of at Canalside and that waterfront area, other than the Naval Park, which was a cool stop for my dad and I.

Canalside and the Buffalo River area was almost barren for years, even as recently as 10-15 years ago. Things have changed dramatically since the start of the 2010's.

Now, Canalside has been transformed into a major destination. We have HarborCenter as well, plus, Buffalo RiverWorks, boat tours and all the fun new restaurants and apartment complexes that are right on the Buffalo River.

Ever wonder what it looked like 65 years ago?

Buffalo CycleBoars shares this very cool photo that shows the Canalside and Buffalo River area back in 1957.

The Canadiana is docked and ready to set sail to Crystal Beach amusement park.

The Canadiana is still on the Buffalo River, but it's now looking more like a haunted ghost ship, rather than a ship ready to set sail.

I went with some friends on the Cycle-Boat tour on Sunday and it's pretty cool seeing just how much potential that area has for development. I don't think we have seen the last of upgrades and new attractions coming to the Buffalo Waterfront.

So much has happened in the past 10 years, so I'm excited to see what it looks like 10-20 years from now.
