Buffalo Sabres Beat Chicago Blackhawks In 2026 Home Opener, Winning 4-3
What started as a great Saturday afternoon in downtown Buffalo turned into an amazing night as the Buffalo Sabres hosted a party in the plaza for the 2026 Home Opener game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The amazing party and great festivities in the KeyBank Center were capped off after a big win by the Sabres, beating the Blackhawks 4-3, with Jiří Kulich, Rasmus Dahlin, Jack Quinn, and Tage Thompson all putting the puck in the net for the Sabres.
The Sabrehood was full of fun, family, and festivities during the party on the plaza as the team arrived on the Blue and Gold Carpet as they headed into the KeyBank Center. DJ Brei filled Alumni Plaza and the KeyBank Center foyer with great sounds of people partying, celebrating the team returning to the ice, and looking back at the great season the Sabres had last year, winning the Atlantic Division title.
Cami & The Fringe played music on the main stage before Sabres legend Pat Kaleta hosted a Wing Eating Contest with fans, in addition to all sorts of other great activities like a photo station, mechanical Buffalo rides, and tons of food and things to drink.
If that wasn't enough to keep people busy, the Sabres also announced the famed Beer Sabre is back and will be available for the entire season.

This, of course, got fans primed and ready for the Sabres to raise the 2025/26 Atlantic Division Championship Banner to the rafters of the KeyBank Center, and then they had the privilege of watching the Sabres' dispatch the Blackhawks in epic fashion as Jiří Kulich knocked in the game-winning goal with less than 7 minutes left in the third period.
That game-winning goal was especially epic as the Sabres trailed 0-2 early in the game and the team worked together to deliver all sorts of great memories for the nearly 20,000 fans who packed the sold-out KeyBank Center.
The Sabres are now two games into the 2026/27 season and will play again on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, when they host the Minnesota Wild at the KeyBank Center.
