The start to the first playoff game in 15 years in Buffalo wasn't the way Buffalo Sabres fans were hoping it would start. The finish was exactly how they wanted the game to end.

Buffalo Sabres Comeback To Win NHL Playoff Game

It has been almost 15 years since the last NHL playoff game in Buffalo was played and fans had to wait a little longer than they hoped to see the first goal from a Buffalo Sabre in the playoffs.

The Sabres were down 2-0 to the Boston Bruins heading into the 3rd period, and it took more than half of the 3rd before the Sabres would finally put the puck into the back of the net, and then an avalanche of goals cascaded afterwards.

Tage Thompson scored the first goal of the NHL playoffs for the Buffalo Sabres with less than 8 minutes left in the game.

Thompson would score again to tie the game at 2-2, before Mattias Samuelsson would score the game-winner just a couple of minutes later. This turned the crowd at KeyBank Center into one of the loudest crowds in the NHL this season.

Alex Tuch netted an empty-netter before Boston scored on the power play right before the end of the game. The Sabres won 4-3 and have a 1-0 lead in the series against Boston.

Game 2 is set for Tuesday Night in Buffalo.
