It is official, we now know who the Buffalo Sabres will play in the opening round of the NHL playoffs this weekend. With a win over 4-0 win over New Jersey, Boston will be the first team the Sabres face in the NHL playoffs since the 2010-11 season.

Buffalo Sabres To Host Boston Bruins In NHL Playoffs

The Buffalo Sabres won the Atlantic Division this season and were 2nd place in the Eastern Conference. That means they have home-ice advantage, and we now know the Sabres will host in the opening round of the NHL playoffs.

With their win yesterday, the Boston Bruins secured the top wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference, and that means they will face off against the Sabres in the opening round of the NHL playoffs.

Buffalo/Boston All-Time History

The Boston Bruins are probably excited to face off against the Sabres in the opening round of the NHL playoffs. The Bruins beat the Sabres 3 out of 4 times this regular season, including their last meeting in March. The Bruins won that game 4-3 in overtime.

Overall, the Buffalo Sabres have a 132-162-39 regular-season record against the Bruins since Buffalo joined the NHL in the 70s.

As for the playoffs, this will be the 9th time these two teams have faced off in the postseason. The Sabres are 2-6 in those series. The last time these two teams played in the playoffs was back in the 2009-10 season, with Boston winning that series.
