The Buffalo Sabres ended their record-setting 14-season playoff drought this year, and they are in a heated battle with the Boston Bruins in the opening round of the NHL playoffs.

Are The Buffalo Sabres A "Dirty" Team?

All three games in the Buffalo/Boston series have been high-intensity and chippy. Players have pushed, shoved, and fought with each other just about every time the whistle blows.

The Sabres have also been very aggressive in front of Boston goalie Jeremy Swayman, stabbing and swiping at the puck as the goaltender tries to cover up. Some people call that playoff hockey; others call it dirty hockey.

Bruins Head Coach Marco Sturm was not happy with the Sabres players during Game 3 and addressed the "Dirty" play afterwards during his press conference.

Everything gets ramped up in the playoffs, especially since you play the same team at least four straight games, which is not something you do during the regular season. That means little things fester and sometimes get out of control.
