The Buffalo Sabres magical run this season officially ended last night in Overtime as Buffalo fell to the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 in Game 7 of their playoff series. So what is next for the Buffalo Sabres?

What Will The Buffalo Sabres Do This Offseason?

Now that the Sabres 2025-26 season is over, it is time to look ahead to the 2026-27 season, and there is a lot that needs to be done before the new season.

The first thing the Sabres front office will need to figure out is whether or not they will re-sign their current free agents. Several players are out of contract now, and the team will have to decide who to keep and who to let go.

Leading the list of free agents is Alex Tuch, who played well for the Sabres and grew up a Sabres fan. He is expected to ask for a big contract, and that could price him out of a return to Buffalo.

Other notable free agents for the Buffalo Sabres include:

Defensemen Luke Schenn and Logan Stanley, both of whom joined the Sabres this season close to the trade deadline.

Sam Carrick, another player who was brought in at the trade deadline. He was a spark-plug for the team in the regular season before getting injured ahead of the playoffs.

Also set to become free agents are forwards Tanner Pearson and Josh Dunne.

The Sabres will also have to decide if they want to tender contract ot restricted free agents Zach Benson, Peyton Krebs, and Michael Kesselring

The Buffalo Sabres will have to get ready for the upcoming draft. This year's draft will be held in Buffalo at KeyBank Center on June 26th and 27th.

Of course the team should also celebrate the amazing season they had and get ready for another run at the Stanley Cup next season.
