After an amazing start after the Olympic break, the Buffalo Sabres have 88 points and are atop the Atlantic Division. So could the Sabres secure a playoff spot this week for the first time in since the 2010-11 season?

Most NHL experts agree that getting to 95 points is the bare minimum to make the NHL playoffs each year. The Sabres are currently 7 points away from making that magical numbers.

Based on those numbers, the Sabres could seal their trip to the NHL playoffs as soon as Sunday.

The Sabres have four games this week, all on the road. They are in Las Vegas tonight, in San Jose on Thursday, in Los Angeles on Saturday, and then in Anaheim on Sunday.

If the Sabres win three out of those four games and lose in overtime the other game, that would give them the 7 points they would need to get to 95 points.
