How Do The Buffalo Sabres Make The Playoffs?
The race to the playoffs is on, and this is the year we Buffalo Sabres fans think the team has a real shot of playing playoff hockey. So what do the Sabres have to do to make the playoffs this season?
How Do The Buffalo Sabres Make The Playoffs?
The historical average amount of points that most NHL teams must get in the regular season is 95 points. Most teams in the NHL will make the playoffs if they end the regular season.
The Sabres have a great shot at getting to that total and beyond. Historically, if you want a really good shot of being a playoff team, you want to have closer to 100 points than to 95 points.
As of right now, the Sabres would have to get over 19 points to hit that magical number. So, at least the Sabres would have to win 10 games outright to get two points per win and hit that goal.

With their remaining schedule, the Sabres would have to go around .500 to make the playoffs. If the Sabres went 10-12-0 over the next 22 games, they should make the playoffs with 96 points.
They could also go 8-10-2 and would most likely make the playoffs.
I am hoping that the team can go 12-10 over the next 22 games, and that would be more than enough to get them into the playoffs for the first time since the 2010-11 season.
