I'm sure most people have seen a zombie movie or TV show; perhaps even have read books on zombie apocalypses.

From Night of the Living Dead to 28 Days Later and Zombieland to The Walking Dead, zombie folklore is a major part of the entertainment industry...but is a zombie apocalypse possible?

It remains to be seen if we ever have a zombie apocalypse, but you might not know that famed prophet Nostradamus predicted that 2021 would be the year that mankind would have to deal with a virus that would turn people into zombies -- a prophecy that was interpreted by astrologists.

You might be laughing at this point, but believe it or not, the CDC has decided to share tips and guidelines on how to combat a zombie apocalypse, via WIVB.

“There are all kinds of emergencies out there that we can prepare for. Take a zombie apocalypse for example,” according to a CDC blog post. “You may laugh now, but when it happens you’ll be happy you read this, and hey, maybe you’ll even learn a thing or two about how to prepare for a real emergency.”

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm locked into these tips, and hey, it doesn't hurt to prepare, right?

According to the CDC, the first thing you'll have to do is put together an emergency kit. This kit should consist of things that would help you get through the first couple of days of the said apocalypse; such as food, water, first aid, medications, clothing, etc.

After the emergency kit is done, the CDC recommends putting together an emergency plan. That means you should decide on where you are going, such as a refugee camp, free of those pesky zombies.

You should also prepare for other possible emergencies in your area such as tornadoes, earthquakes, and floods (this would be the end of times, right?).

The CDC also adds that you should pick a meeting place for family and friends inside and just outside of your home, in case of sudden emergencies, along with identifying all your emergency contacts (which includes the police) and picking a certain escape route.

I've seen all the zombie movies and while these plans will certainly help, I don't think anyone can 'fully' prepare for a zombie apocalypse. We are talking about the chaos in those movies, right?

You can read the CDC's full tips at their website. You can also join the Zombie Task Force, which is from the non-profit CDC Foundation, in which proceeds go to benefit disaster relief efforts.
