Erie County Holding Teen Vaccination Clinics This Weekend

If you are a parent of a 16 or 17-year-old and want your child to get the COVID-19 vaccine, Erie County is making it really easy for you this weekend.

Currently, the Center for Disease Control has approved the Pfizer vaccine for anyone over the age of 16. Last week Erie County health officials were able to secure an extra shipment of the Pfizer vaccine and will now hold several clinics this Saturday aimed at getting 16 and 17-year-olds vaccinated.

The three sites for the teen vaccination clinics will be held at SUNY ECC North in Williamsville, SUNY ECC South in Orchard Park, and McKinley High School in Buffalo.

Parents will need to schedule an online appointment for their children prior to Saturday's clinics and parents will also have to sign a consent form online prior to the vaccine being given to their child. Parents will have to make an appointment and sign the consent form for every child that they want to be vaccinated.

Adults will still be able to get their vaccination at these clinics as well, but instead of the Pfizer, adults will get the Moderna vaccine.

At the time of this post, there were over 300 appointments for teens still available at the McKinley High School location, over 230 at the SUNY ECC South location, and over 215 at the SUNY ECC North location.

If you can't make one of the "Teen" clinics this Saturday, you can still sign up your children to get the vaccine at any New York State COVID-19 vaccine clinic but you will have to make sure that the clinic offers the Pfizer vaccine. Both the Johnson and Johnson and Moderna vaccines have not been approved for anyone under the age of 18.
