Famous Musicians You Didn’t Know were from New York State
Tomorrow night (October 30th) a new class will be ushered into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and into music immortality. The list this year is impressive as always and features a wide gamut of performers. Throwback performers such as Tina Turner and Carole King finally get the nod. The smooth sounds of Yacht Rock legend Todd Rundgren will finally make their way inside the Cleveland Pyramid. And Brooklyn's own Jay-Z will officially be a part of Rock & Roll immortality, as he's got 99 problems, but being a Hall-of-Famer ain't one. And if you are a fan of '80s, MTV era pop music, then you'll be thrilled about the long-awaited induction of The Go-Go's.
But, the headliner of this year's class has got to be the Foo Fighters. In your feel-old moment of the day, an artist's debut album has to have come out at least 25 years ago for an artist to be eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This means that Dave Grohl, already an inductee for his work with Nirvana, has had a quarter-century-long second career as the frontman of the Foo Fighters. Let that sink in.
But with such hits as "My Hero", "Learn to Fly", "Times Like These" and countless others, the Foos have surely earned their place in Cleveland.
With all of the hype around this weekend's ceremonies, it got us thinking. Who are some famous musicians who are actually from right here in the Empire state? We did some digging, and some of the names we came up with may surprise you.
