Erie County Free Week is coming back to The Albright Knox Art Museum.  If you love to take in beautiful art, next week will be the week to do it.

What is Erie County Free Week?

Erie County Free Week is an entire week of free admission, programs, and events that have been put together by the museum as a way for them to express their gratitude to all Erie County residents, the County Executive, and County Legislators for their generous support of museum operations.

When is it?

This year the Albright Knox Art Museum is opening up its doors to everyone with free admission starting Monday, July 5, and continuing through Sunday, July 11.

Are there any special events?

This year, their featured display is called "Hervé Tullet: Shape and Color"  That display will run from July 9th-11th.  It's the largest exhibition of work by this artist, performer, and beloved children’s book author ever assembled.

Should I bring the kids?

Yes!  It's never too early to get kids excited about art!  They've got programs for kids at a FREE Virtual Family Funday on July 11th featuring activities inspired by Hervé Tullet’s book The Game of Shapes including:

Storytime & Artmaking, 1–1:40 pm

Movement Activity, 1:40–2:05 pm

Drop-In Art Activity with Resident Artist, 2:05–2:30 pm

Activity with Buffalo History Museum, 2:30–3 pm

Also don't forget, they've got classes for childrenteens, and adults.

“Our mission as a museum is to serve our community as a catalyst for learning, creativity, and social engagement.  Each year, Erie County’s generous commitment supports a wide range of inspirational art classes, groundbreaking exhibitions, and a Public Art Initiative, which helps us share spectacular artworks across Western New York. We are deeply grateful to Erie County for its continued support of our museum and vibrant community.” - Janne Sirén, Peggy Pierce Elfvin Director of the Albright-Knox. “
