He Grew Up In Buffalo And Now He Will Preach At The Royal Wedding

This is really cool! Kensington Palace announced yesterday that an American will be giving an address at the Royal Wedding. Bishop Michael Curry, the first African American, to lead the Episcopal Church will be giving a sermon at the Royal wedding. He also happens to have Buffalo ties. This should not come as a shock to anyone who lives in the Buffalo area because there is ALWAYS a connection to Buffalo. Bishop Curry actually has a really cool past that is woven into Buffalo's history and according to the Buffalo News,

"He lived on Hamlin Road in Buffalo and attended Buffalo public schools. He's also a Bills fan..."

Bishop Curry's father, late-Rev. Kenneth Curry was a crucial part of the Buffalo civil right's movement and helped to desegregate the schools in the area. The Bishop followed in his father's footsteps both religiously and socially, which eventually led him to become the first African-American head of the Episcopal Church. While he won't be performing the service he will be addressing the congregation and was hand-picked by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Kensington Palace released this statement,

"Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have asked that The Most Reverend Michael Bruce Curry, the 27^th Presiding Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church, give the address at their wedding.

Presiding Bishop Curry, from Chicago Illinois, will travel to Windsor to take part in the Service. He will join The Dean of Windsor, The Rt. Revd. David Conner, who will conduct the Service. The Most Revd. and Rt. Hon. Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, will officiate as the couple make their marriage vows.

The Most Reverend Michael Bruce Curry said: "The love that has brought and will bind Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle together has its source and origin in God, and is the key to life and happiness. And so we celebrate and pray for them today."
