There is some good news this week regarding public safety in the State of New York. There are reports that money has been allocated for police agencies in The Empire State.

What does that mean and where does the money go or come from? It appears that the money follows a promise that Governor Hochul will help agencies get what they need to serve and protect.

Governor Hochul says as much as 50 million dollars is going to be put towards public safety. Local police departments will receive a total of 30 million for new technologies and body-worn cameras. Additionally, 20 million dollars will be used to support pre-trial services in all counties outside of New York City.

Hochul is being challenged by Lee Zeldin in the race for New York Governor that will take place on November 8th.

This comes after the announcement that New York is also sending 2 helicopters and personnel from the National Guard to help those affected by Hurricane Ian.
