Horrible News About Two Of The Buffalo Bills’ New Free Agents
It has been a pretty positive offseason already for the Buffalo Bills, but Friday Bills fans got some unfortunate news about two of their new free agents.
Last year's offseason started off pretty rocky. It started with a bunch of players getting cut and then with one of the Bills' biggest names (Stefon Diggs) getting traded away. However, unlike last season, this offseason has been a pretty positive one. Aside from losing fan-favorite Mack Hollins to the New England Patriots, the Bills have been able to retain, and even extend some core players. The Bills have been able to add some depth in areas where they were a little thin and even snagged an all-pro edge rusher in Joey Bosa.
Today though, we got news that two of the players that the Bills just brought in will likely be sitting out the first 6 weeks of the season. Brandon Beane announced today in a press conference that both Mike Hoecht and Larry Ogunjobi will face a 6 game suspension for violating the league's Performing Enhanced Drugs policy.
He did say that he was aware of the pending suspension with Mike Hoecht but did not know that Ogunjobi was also facing that same punishment. Hoecht has taken responsibility saying that he simply wasn't verifying substances that he had taken. Ogunjobi said that he wasn't aware of the suspension until after he had agreed to terms of the contract with the Bills.
You have to wonder if the Bills would have an option to void the Ogunjobi contract if they chose to because the information didn't become available until after it was signed. If not, the Bills will be paying Ogunjobi $8 million (possibly $10) for just 11 games.
